We never officially discussed the injury, save for some instagram posts and such. I owe you guys some kind of explanation, hence this video. It's been exactly two weeks since I broke my leg and part of my ankle, and pretty soon I should be able to hobble around.

I almost get the same injury but I fractured my tibia and had to get a plate and screws also I fractured my ankle
Man imagine really jacking up your leg, going to the doctor, getting operated on, and not be left with a crippling e.r. bill. Must be nice to live in a civilized country.
Now I know why I hadn’t seen any new videos. Wish you the best!
Wishing you a speedy recovery Seth. In one of you're previous videos you talked about 10% of tools used 90% of the time. Im keen to build a tall wall and I wondered if you could do a video to share your 10% most used tools?!
Never broke a bone on my bike but I know it’s coming
I had the exact same injury, with the exact same pins and plates. 8+ years later, it only hurts sometimes, so you have lots to look forward to!
Curtis really seemed like he was getting stuff done
My dad (yes the same one I keep commenting about) has a knee scooter because of constant injuries
Omg, Oscar is growing fast
You need to use your foot even it is broken. Get well soon buddy!
Bro. That crap is gonna bother you later. Good thing you'reva tough dude. Best wishes.
In regards to shoes what are you all wearing and are comfortable?
Oh man, get better soon! Stop breaking shit on yourself, better stick to breaking your bikes. :P ;D
Gnarly $#!+, Dude. Wish you a speedy recovery that looks awfully painful. 🤙
I feel you brother. I just broke my leg in three places and broke my foot in 4 places. I had a 4 hour surgery and I have a plate with 12 screws and 2 screws into my Tibia. I also dislocated my tibia. It happened on 10/18/2020 and I’m just now getting around. My doctor told me to get a bike since i have so much damage. So I went out and got an REI DRT 1.1 today and found your channel. Let me know if you need emotional support. 😂
At my first post-op appointment my surgeon said that my bones healed so well that he couldn’t even see the fracture location. IMO it was the fact that I followed his advice and I elevated 90% of the time. So keep that leg up. 😂
My brother's friend had an injury like that and it healed so yeah
i had a Similar Injury , Slipped on ICE - Circa 2000 1 Scew in the Fibula to Set and After 3 Months Removed it Still Aches when it Gets COLD and Ankle is NOISEY

Not sure whether to thumbs up or down! Good update but 🙁 for you.
get better my friend
Poor Seth. Get well soon!
I just broke my ankle
Seth, wanted to reach out and ask for your insight and possibly encouragement when it comes to getting back on a bike. Over a year ago, I broke my left clavicle into 4 pieces after coming off a bike onto my shoulder. Funny enough, this was not when I was on a trail, but on campus heading to class. Subsequently, I now have a roughly 6" long titanium plate, 7 screws, a pin, and some wire that were put in to hold everything together and allow the healing process to begin. Surgery was in September of 2019. Around January to February of 2020, I was experiencing a lot of pain and it simply did not feel right. When I went and had it checked out, I was informed that the surgery, as well as the hardware, had essentially failed (as I had 2 screws pulling out), and that I would have to choose whether or not to undergo a second surgery, which would include a bone graft. I told the doc I would think about it, not knowing that shortly after, COVID would hit. With that in mind, I decided to not pursue surgery at the time, as I simply did not want to be in a hospital unless necessary, nor did I want to increase any risk of contracting anything. That aside, it began to felt somewhat different, once again, around October of 2020. Decided to go see the doc again for him to check and see if anything had gotten worse. To my surprise, he informed me that it looked as if once everything had shifted around, that it had finally began to bridge and heal to some extent. I have not yet had a CT scan to confirm this; however, it is likely I will before too long. All of this being said, I have only gotten back on a bike once or twice since the accident. Part of that is pain, and part of it is fear. Knowing you have been through multiple injuries and hopped back on, I wanted to ask to see if you might have any words of encouragement or perhaps some things you did to feel alright about getting back on and hitting trails again. Anything you might have to say is greatly appreciated. - Harrison
I hope you will get to full recovery
Just saw you’re having nerve issues with your foot still. Find a physical therapy place or massage therapy that does microcurrent!!! Life changing!!
Big pain
I had a similar injury except it was my tibia when I was in 8th grade, that was 13 years ago. It took at 12-18 months for me to be able to play sports without it inhibiting me, and i never got the same flexibility back in my ankle. It works, but it was never close to being back to 100%.
Wonder if Mrs Seth bike hacks
When Seth says we’re doing something different and he doesn’t say but kind of the same you know somethings wrong!!
Omg, wish all the best and stay brave👍 Merry Christmas 🌲🎅⛄

Hey Seth I wanted to let you know that I have recently started mountain biking because of your channel. I love all the things that you do from the wood work and how you are such a hard worker. My wife was like you two are the same. The funny thing about that was on 11/21/2020 I got almost the same injury as you. I broke my ankle and fibula up on the trails. Can’t wait to see you back on your bike.
In the intro where was the 'but kinda the same' this would have been the best time for him to use it he always brakes himself haha
I have a rod like that ... but in my shoulder :D
That is crazy what happened to you
i had same break on fib but i had a different pin through tb and fib rather than into my ankle i had next day surgery too leg is 100% 10 years later and my opposite leg is really messed up i needed to get my ankle ligaments rebuilt and an internal brace in that one id rather snap a bone than tear some ligaments you will be all good in about 8 to 10 weeks

Man! You relly are my inspiration! Since now in Poland winter is coming, I'm preparing bike for me. I'll be watching Your videos till spring;) Then, with my son, we will be riding tracks, and learning howto ,mountainbikeing. I discovered so many great tracks, so close to my house, that im so impatient to try them, and learn to ride! Most of my - not yet done - passion, is inspired by Your videos. Your editing is great also. Thanks for encouragemnent! Get well, and stay away from other diseases (especialy C-19)!
Looks like you could have gotten away without the two pins in the ankle... Next time have a say with the doctor while looking at the x-rays, you'll save some grams in titanium. Get well soon, cheers from Latin America!
Get well soon
Looks like age is starting to catch up to you. Collar bone, wrist & now ankle...feel better soon. Watching these vids helped get me back into mtb.
Wow just realized you had an injury while watching the gift guide video. What is your recovery time and are you doing physical therapy? If so, I think many of us would be curious to see what it takes to make a full recovery. I ruptured a quad and dislocated a knee 6 weeks ago while bouldering. Much like yourself it wasn't while doing anything crazy, in fact I was just stepping down and jumped off the wall from a few feet up but landed awkwardly while turning. Just in the past week I was able to turn pedals on a PT bike, but it'll be another 4-6 weeks before I can actually bike with resistance or to get any kind of cardio. If you're like me, the biggest challenge is getting on/off the toilet. I highly recommend getting a handicap toilet rail kit off Amazon.
Around the Same time I got surgery on my finger I can’t wait to get back on a bike
I broke my collarbone two days ago so I feel you
Collarbone is one of the worst, gotta sleep on one side for 3 - 4 months... feel ya
Seth, I had the EXACT same injury with the EXACT same X-Rays and EXACT same screws and plate in the EXACT same spots (incisions and all). I feel ya buddy... it sucks. I snapped my fibula just like yours and jacked my ankle in the process... the ironic thing was that I was roller-skating with my daughter, showing off "how it's done" and then when I rolled up beside her I just turned left and turned back right and leaned back too far and fell on my behind while my feet were still planted. I heard my fibula snap over the DJ music... it was brutal. And so I ruined an 8-year old's birthday party getting wheeled out to the ambulance while they shut the skating rink down.
Please look up Arthrex tightrope syndesmotic fixation. I am a practicing Orthopedic surgeon and am concerned about your X-rays. Time is critical. With this particular injury your syndesmotic ligaments between your tibia and fibula were torn and need to be fixed. I do NOT see signs of this fixation on your X-ray. Please check on this ASAP and if needed get a second opinion. Sorry about this info and your injury.
He is getting old, maybe he should Stop Biking. Maybe an wheelchair would be the right thing for him.
Uhh how old are you?
watch him be sending jumps on the mobility scooter next week 😂
